Embattled MassDOT Board Members Agree To Resign
BOSTON (AP) — Six members of the state's transportation board have agreed to resign at the request of Gov. Charlie Baker.
A spokesman for the governor said Tuesday that the chairman of the seven-member MassDOT board, John Jenkins, has submitted his resignation.
Officials confirmed that five other board members had either submitted letters or communicated their intention to step down.
Baker's request came last week after a special advisory panel created by the governor recommended creation of a new financial control board to oversee the MBTA, which was plagued by weather-related breakdowns over the winter.
The seventh member of the MassDOT board is Baker's transportation secretary, Stephanie Pollack, who is expected to lead a reconstituted board.
Baker said earlier Tuesday he planned to file legislation shortly to implement the advisory panel's recommendations.
