Heat advisory issued across most of Massachusetts through late Tuesday
BOSTON – The dangerous heat returns to Massachusetts Monday, so be prepared and take precautions.
The WBZ-TV weather team has a NEXT Weather Alert in effect for this week's stretch of hot, humid, and potentially stormy weather across the Boston area.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of Massachusetts through 8 p.m. Tuesday.
An excessive heat watch has been issued for nearly all of Massachusetts Tuesday. The National Weather Service will also likely begin an air quality alert this week because of the extreme heat.
Heat index values Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon will be sweltering. It will feel like 95 to 100 degrees in many cities and towns.
Monday through Wednesday, in the afternoon and evenings, there will be thunderstorm risks each day, especially later Wednesday into the evening hours.
A cold frontal passage will occur during this time that will make way for much more comfortable conditions at the end of the work week.
Please remind those around you about the impacts of heat-related illnesses. It is the number one killer, so remember to drink more water than caffeine and alcohol.
Looking ahead, conditions begin cooling off just a bit, still edging into the mid-80s later this week.
