Man, Woman Arrested After SUV Dragged Trooper
WEBSTER (CBS) – A man and woman who were wanted after a SUV dragged a trooper Friday afternoon have been arrested.
Authorities said the trooper had stopped the SUV on Chase Avenue in Webster at about 12:25 p.m. The trooper was on foot at the side of the car when the driver accelerated and dragged the trooper "for a short distance" and fled, police said.
An ambulance took the trooper to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
For hours, police were looking for a green 2008 Honda Pilot with Massachusetts license plate 9CKG50. The SUV was found in Fitchburg at about 5:00 p.m. Friday.
Police arrested 40-year-old Jessica Crutchley of Dudley in the vehicle on an outstanding warrant.
The driver of the SUV, 27-year-old Cory Peterson of Dudley, fled the scene and was located by troopers and a K-9 hiding under a deck at a home nearby. Peterson had three outstanding warrants and faces several charges including assault with intent to murder and assault on a police officer.
Both suspects are being held without bail until their arraignments on Monday.
