Troopers Cheer Up Girl After Police Costume Called Not 'Cool'

BOSTON (CBS) – "A girl can be anything she wants to be, including a Police Officer."

That's the message from Massachusetts State Police after a teaching moment involving one local group of kids.

Authorities say 3-year-old Cosette was part of a library group where children were asked to dress up as what they wanted to be when they grow up. She chose a "Massachusetts Police K-9 Girl," but her fellow learners did not approve.

"Many of the girls came dressed as Disney princesses and they singled out their classmate as not being as cool as them," police said.

Word of her heartbreak spread to the State Police Barracks in South Boston, where Troopers Tronca and McLaughlin decided to pay a visit to the girl and her library group.

It looks like everyone lived happily ever after, as police say her classmates were very receptive to the fact that girls can indeed grow up to be police officers.
