Massachusetts Home Sale Prices Up Nearly 40% Over Last Decade
STATEHOUSE, BOSTON, AUGUST 28, 2019 (STATEHOUSE NEWS SERVICE) – Home sale prices in Massachusetts continued their ascent in July, setting a new all-time high for the month and rising to a level that's nearly 20 percent higher than five years ago and nearly 40 percent higher than July 2009.
The Warren Group reported Wednesday morning that home sales in July were down 4.6 percent compared to July 2018 while the median sale price of a single-family home that changed hands last month was $425,000, a record for the month of July.
The median home sale price in Massachusetts during July 2014 was $355,000, and $305,000 during July 2009, based on previous reports from The Warren Group.
Warren Group Associate Publisher Cassidy Norton said in a statement, "Don't be surprised if we continue to see major price gains on a year-over-year basis in the coming months."
Over the first seven months of 2019, home sales in Massachusetts are down 1.8 percent and the median sale price of $400,000 is up 3.9 percent, compared to the same period in 2018
