Mass. Hiker Rescued After Hurting Head At NH's White Mountains
LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says hikers and a conservation officer teamed up to help a hiker suffering from a head wound near Mt. Moriah.
The department says 41-year-old Elizabeth Brown of Massachusetts suffered a cut after hitting a low-hanging tree limb on Monday afternoon just below the summit, near Gorham.
Using first aid materials and clothing, two hiking companions and two good Samaritans bandaged Brown's wound to control the bleeding. They called 911.
Brown was over four miles into the woods from the nearest road, but authorities said she was able to hike toward Route 16 via the Appalachian and Stoney Brook trails. Rescuers reached her two miles up the Stoney Brook Trail at about 5 p.m. The group reached a road about two hours later. Brown was taken to a hospital for treatment.
