Mass. Gas Prices 57 Cents Lower Than Last Year
BOSTON (AP) — Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are following a national trend and falling to their lowest levels in years.
AAA Northeast reports Monday that self-serve, regular has fallen 4 cents in the past week to an even $2 per gallon.
That's a penny more than the national average of $1.99, the first time since 2009 that it has dropped below $2 per gallon.
AAA says lower gas prices have saved American consumers $115 billion so far this year, or more than $550 per licensed driver.
The Massachusetts price is now 7 cents lower per gallon than a month ago and 57 cents lower than a year ago. AAA found self-serve regular selling for as low as $1.85 per gallon and as high as $2.19.
