Mass. Could Sue Firm In Trouble For Rollout Of Federal Health Care Website

BOSTON (CBS) - The state is taking aim at the same company being blamed for many of the problems on the government's health care website, CGI of Canada.

Jean Yang, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Health Connector, says her board has hired the research firm Mitre to analyze the problems and report back quickly.

"I would say no one is more frustrated than I am."

Yang says the problems exploded after CGI was hired to update the Health Connector.

"We initiated the relationship with CGI very much as part of the Affordable Care Act transition," according to Yang.

 

She says she wants to determine whether the Canadian company is responsible for the new problems that popped up last fall. She tells me new functionality on the Health Connector website was necessary, after the Affordable Care Act became law.

Yang says the state is not ruling out any option, including possibly suing CGI over continuing issues with the Health Connector website.

"We're looking at the situation in a very thorough fashion, to reach a credible, independent opinion."
