Mass Ave. Bridge Temporarily Closed After Homeless Encampment Catches Fire
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – The Massachusetts Avenue bridge was temporarily shut down Thursday because of a fire at a homeless encampment on nearby Storrow Drive.
Video from a driver in the area showed black smoke billowing above the bridge along the Charles River.
No one was injured. The bridge was closed to traffic for over an hour.
State Police were concerned the heat from the fire could have compromised some of the concrete on the bridge and they wanted it inspected.
