Manchester NH Motorcyclist Arrested After Allegedly Going 127 MPH On I-93
CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – A Manchester, N.H., man is in jail facing a variety of charges after allegedly leading police on a chase after being clocked at 127 mph on his motorcycle early Saturday morning.
New Hampshire State Police said David J. Fries, 31, was traveling north on Interstate 93 in Bow at about 2:45 a.m. when a trooped clocked him doing 127 mph in a 65 mph zone on his 2000 Suzuki Sport motorcycle.
A trooper gave chase but ended pursuit when Fries went onto Route 393 eastbound. A second trooper then reported seeing the speeding motorcycle exit 393 onto Route 106, run a red light and crash into the guardrail on the opposite side of the road.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle and fled on foot. About 45 minutes later a trooper and state police K-9 found Fries, police said.
According to police, Fries had a hypodermic needle, smoking pipe and crack cocaine in his possession.
Fries was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment of a broken ankle and injuries sustained when detained by the K-9 after resisting arrest, police said.
Police said Fries allegedly told them he reached speeds of up to 185 mph before exiting 393.
Fries faces charges including reckless operation, operating without a motorcycle license, resisting arrest and drug possession.
He was held on $30,000 cash bail at the Merrimack County Jail.
