Man Who Sued Hernandez After Being Shot In Face Testifies At Trial

FALL RIVER (CBS/AP) — A man who sued Aaron Hernandez after he was shot in the face testified at Hernandez's murder trial Wednesday.

But prosecutors were not allowed to ask Alexander Bradley about the shooting, which happened a few months before the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

Bradley says he got into an argument with Hernandez after leaving a Florida strip club in February 2013 and was shot between the eyes.  He claims Hernandez left him in an industrial park.

Prior to that incident, Bradley said the two would travel together, hang out and smoke marijuana.

The defense tried unsuccessfully to block all of Bradley's testimony.

Bradley said Wednesday, outside the presence of the jury, that Hernandez often said helicopters and police were following him, but the judge ruled that Bradley could not testify about that.

"He doesn't like people knowing his business and he also stated before that he has a hard time trusting people," Bradley said without the jury present.

"He didn't want me to use iPhones around him. He stated that to me."

When asked to explain why, Bradley told the prosecutor, "Because he stated that all conversations could be heard at any time through iPhones."

Judge Susan Garsh did allow testimony about a lock box that Bradley claims to have seen in the basement of Hernandez's home.

"There was a firearm in the box before. I saw cash in there. I saw marijuana joints as well in there," Bradley said.

There were several interruptions during Bradley's testimony by sidebar conferences, because there was so much inadmissible testimony to work around.

Bradley finished testifying around 12:30 p.m. about three hours after he initially took the witness stand.

Following Bradley, the IT director of the Bristol County District Attorney's Office took the stand to discuss technical aspects of Hernandez's video surveillance system.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in Lloyd's murder. Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.
