Man Struck, Killed By Elderly Driver In Plymouth

PLYMOUTH (CBS) -- A 63-year-old Minnesota man was struck and killed by an elderly driver while he was walking in Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was struck by a woman attempting to parallel park her grey Nissan SUV on Water Street around 1:30 p.m. Police say the man was near a crosswalk in back of her, when he bent over to pick up a leaflet. She couldn't see the man and hit him while backing up, pinning him against a silver Volvo.

He was rushed by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and then flown by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim hasn't been identified by authorities.

State Police and the Plymouth County District District Attorney's Office are handling the investigation. As of Wednesday afternoon, no charges have been brought against the driver.
