Man Charged With OUI After Wellesley Hit And Run Pleads Not Guilty

WELLESLEY (CBS) -- A 21-year-old man who allegedly struck a cyclist in Wellesley and drove off pleaded not guilty Monday to several charges, including operating a vehicle under the influence, during his arraignment.

Connor Campanelli, of Wellesley, appeared in Dedham District Court to answer to the OUI charge, as well as charges of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a vehicle, speeding, and failing to keep right.

Prosecutors say Campanelli hit a 47-year-old bicyclist from Framingham while they were traveling on Hampshire Road around 6:12 p.m. on Friday. The man remains in the intensive care unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

A judge continued the $3,000 bail posted over the weekend and ordered Campanelli to remain drug and alcohol free with random screens and to not drive while the case is pending, according to a statement from the Norfolk District Attorney's Office.

His next court date is slated for April 21.
