Maine Service Dog Gets Police Officer To Help Owner Who Fell In Store

NORTH WINDHAM, Maine (CBS) - A service dog did a job well done last week, when it alerted a police officer that her owner had fallen inside a Walgreen's in North Windham.

Misty approached officer Ernest MacVane and tried to get his attention, according to a post on the Windham Police Department's Facebook account.

"(She) was able to lead Officer MacVane a short distance to her owner, Kelly, who had fallen and was in need of some assistance," reads the post. Kelly suffers from cerebral palsy.

Police say the mobility assistance dog helps Kelly with her day-to-day activities, including getting help from others, when needed.

"On a chance encounter (Wednesday), Officer MacVane was reunited with Kelly and Misty, who are doing well together," reads the post.
