Lynn Becomes Southie For A Day For Johnny Depp-Whitey Bulger Movie 'Black Mass'

LYNN (CBS) – It's St. Patrick's Day in Central Square in Lynn.

The neighborhood has been transformed into South Boston in the late 1970s for the Whitey Bulger movie "Black Mass" starring Johnny Depp.

Film crews will be shooting a St. Patrick's Day parade scene Monday complete with floats, bands and bagpipes.

Some people were called in as early as 5 a.m. to be extras.

"I think it's wonderful," one extra told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "It gives people the opportunity to be working and earn extra money."

A woman from Rhode Island woke up at 2:30 a.m. to get a good celebrity viewing spot.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports

"Just the excitement, somthing kind of extraordinary to do, to see this whole thing, the kind of production, setting up and maybe get a glimpse of Johnny Depp or B.C. (Benedict Cumberbatch)," she told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

Cumberbatch plays Bulger's brother Billy, the former state Senate president.
