Lynn Babysitter Charged In Bathtub Burning Of 2 Toddlers

LYNN (CBS) – A babysitter has been charged with child endangerment after two children were severely burned in a bathtub last week in Lynn.

Charles Robinson Collins, 21, was ordered held on $3,000 bail at his arraignment Wednesday afternoon in Lynn District Court.

Two-year-old Landon Young and his three-year-old brother Leland are still being treated at Shriners Hospital for Children.

The boys were being watched by Collins in an apartment on Essex Street the morning of June 18.

His father, Charles Collins, told reporters last week his son left the children in the tub briefly to use a bathroom in a friend's apartment and the three-year-old turned the hot water on.

The babysitter's father said his son told him that when he returned the boys were screaming and trying to get out of the tub.

Both boys were rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital on MedFlight rescue helicopters.

Later in the day, the building's landlord told WBZ-TV's Beth Germano the babysitter admitted he fell asleep.

Collins's father told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 the boy's father Joe Young is now suing his son.

The Young family has set up a site for donations to help with medical expenses.  If you would like to contribute visit gofundme.com/youngboysrecovery.
