App, Target Store Help Woman Recover Wallet Lost A Year Ago

LOWELL (CBS) - Nicole Apostolakos is counting her blessings and her change. She lost her fancy, expensive, Gucci wallet back in 2015 while shopping at a Target in Lowell. Inside was $400 along with all her credit cards and IDs.

"It was a Gucci wallet, an $800 wallet I bought for myself, so that in itself I was very disappointed," Apostolakos said.

After a couple of days, Nicole stopped looking for her wallet. She thought someone probably picked it up at the Target parking lot. She canceled her credit cards and got a new license.

She thought she would never see her wallet again. "It was gone no one was going to return it. Whether they knew it was an expensive wallet or not, there was $400 in it, so I was like yep it's gone," Apostolakos said.

On Thursday she decided to download a Facebook Messenger app on her phone and couldn't believe the message she found from a Target store manager dating back February 2015. "I believe we found your black wristlet and you can come in anytime to retrieve it. It's in the safe and a manager will get it for you. It was from February 12, 2015 and I saw it yesterday," Apostolakos said.

And much to her surprise nothing was missing. "And I opened the wallet and everything was in there. My cash, receipts, credit cards," Apostolakos said.

Nicole couldn't thank Target enough for their honesty and finding her on Facebook. "Very fortunate because things like that don't happen today. That's why I want people to know there are still good people out there and people do good deeds," Apostolakos said.
