Lowell Police Sergeant Charged With Domestic Assault

LOWELL (CBS) -- A Lowell police sergeant is facing assault charges for an off-duty altercation within his Pepperell home.

Sgt. Vincent Fernandez was arrested at his home over the weekend after he reportedly engaged in a physical fight with his wife.

Court documents indicate that Fernandez's wife punched him multiple times because she was upset about his SnapChat use and he refused to go outside with her to walk the dog.

Two children were home during the incident and that Fernandez's daughter called police, according to court documents.

Fernandez reportedly resisted when police tried to arrest him. Court documents indicate that police tasered him at least three times.

Fernandez arrived in court for his arraignment Tuesday with a bruise under his eye.

A judge ordered him to turn in his firearms and stay away from alcohol.
