Flight Crew Landing At Logan Airport Reports Seeing Drone
BOSTON (CBS) -- Massachusetts State Police and the FAA have launched an investigation after a flight crew reported seeing a drone while landing at Logan Airport on Christmas Day.
The FAA says Air Canada Express flight 7626 was on its final approach to Runway 22 Left when the crew spotted the unmanned aircraft at about 1:20 p.m.
The crew estimated that the drone was flying about 800 feet high and in sight as the E170 aircraft was about two miles from landing.
The flight landed without incident.
FAA rules state that a drone operator must notify air traffic control when flying within 5 miles of an airport and must not fly near manned aircraft.
