Man With Gun, Drugs Arrested At Milton High School

MILTON (CBS) – A man with a gun and drugs was arrested outside Milton High School Wednesday afternoon.

The school went into lockdown after police say 19-year-old Jonathan Villagran of Watertown tried to gain access to the building at about 3:00 p.m. He was not allowed in the building, but remained outside on campus.

Administrators inside the school watched Villagran on security cameras and alerted police when he would not leave. When he was arrested, police found a loaded handgun, marijuana, alcohol and about $3,000 in cash.

Police swept the building and found a second unannounced visitor and were worried it could be connected so they locked the school down. School was already out for the day, but the students that were there for extracurricular activities were told to stay in their classroom.

A student says, "Our assistant principal came on the loudspeaker and said 'this is a lockdown not a drill, not a drill.'"

Denise Allen's son was trapped inside the school. "My heart was pounding because you can't go to the school you got to sit tight and wait and see what you hear," she says.

After a few hours, the school was clear and the students were released to their anxious parents.

A parent tells WBZ-TV, "I know she's OK, she's with her teachers, but I still want to see them and say OK, now I can breathe again."

Police say Villagran was there to either allegedly sell drugs or meet a girl, they are still investigating. He will face a judge Thursday.

No one was threatened or hurt in the incident.

WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill contributed to this report.
