Lawyer: Restrained Airline Passenger Had Taken Sleep Medication

BOSTON (AP) — A lawyer for a passenger who was restrained after she allegedly tried to open an exit door on a London-to-Boston flight says she had taken sleep medication and can't remember what happened.

Kamila Dolniak, a Polish citizen, was arraigned in court Wednesday on a charge of interfering with a flight crew. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf and she was ordered to surrender her passport. She was being held on $500 bail.

State police said Dolniak tried to open an exit door on British Airways Flight 213 Tuesday. She was restrained and the plane landed about 30 minutes ahead of schedule at Boston's Logan International Airport.

Her defense attorney said Dolniak took the sleep medication Ambien and does not remember her alleged actions on the flight.

Dolniak is due back in court Nov. 24.
