Toddler taken in SUV theft found safe, suspects in custody

LAWRENCE - A toddler who was in the back seat of an SUV that was stolen in Lawrence Monday night has been found safe. Two suspects were taken into custody after a chase. 

State Police said the 22-month-old girl was inside a silver Honda Pilot that was stolen on South Broadway at about 8 p.m. 

The girl was later dropped off at Lawrence Hospital and is safe, State Police said.

A 33-year-old man from Methuen, and a 29-year-old woman from Haverhill were taken into custody after a chase. State Police troopers and Chelmsford Police pursued the stolen SUV, stopping it on Route 495 South in Berlin. 

The toddler's grandmother is thankful she was found safe. "Nobody wants to believe in God but when you believe everything in God and you believe it... the impossible can happen," she told WBZ-TV.

Police have not released the identities of the suspects.
