L Street Brownies Kick Off 2015 With Annual Polar Plunge

DORCHESTER (CBS) -- Hundreds of swimmers ran into the frigid Dorchester Bay waters Thursday morning for the 112th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, sponsored by the L Street Brownies Swimming Club.

This year, swimmers took the plunge to raise funds for the Scleroderma Foundation. 

Participants meet at the L Street Tavern at 8am and were then escorted down L Street by the 103rd Postal Fire Column Pipes and Drums. At 9:30am, at the L Street Bathhouse, swimmers took the ice-cold plunge wearing anything from kilts to boxers.

The temperature outside was a brisk 25 degrees by plunge time.
