Boston Startup Develops 'Smart' Wine Bottle

BOSTON (CBS) – A Boston-based startup wants to change the way we drink wine.

Kuvee has designed the first-ever "smart" wine bottle. Using specially made canisters, customers can pour one glass at a time and keep the rest of the bottle air tight for up to 30 days.

The company says it's perfect for a night when you want just one glass but don't want the rest of the bottle to go to waste.

"You want a Yuengling and I want a Bud Light, that's no big deal, we can just grab a bottle and that's fine," Kuvee's Mike Tomovich tells WBZ-TV. "But if you want a glass of red and I want a glass of white, you're not going to open two full glass bottles."

Kuvee keeps wine good for a month after a canister is opened, Tomovich says.

The bottle is also Wi-Fi enabled.

Using the touchscreen on the front, customers can look up more information about the wine, rate it, or order more.

Kuvee is now on pre-sale for $179, and that includes four canisters of wine. The product is set to be shipped out in October.
