Celtics Reportedly Had 'Preliminary Discussions' About Blockbuster Kevin Love Deal

BOSTON (CBS) – With the NBA trade deadline just days, rumors are bound to fly. On Friday night, the New York Daily News reported one particularly juicy rumor that Celtics fans may find appealing.

Frank Isola reported late Friday that the Celtics and Cavaliers have had discussions about a potential blockbuster deal that would send Kevin Love to Boston.

According to the Daily News, those talks also included "very preliminary discussions" with New York about possibly turning the deal into a three-team trade that would send Carmelo Anthony from the Knicks to Cavaliers.

The trade deadline is Thursday, and Danny Ainge's Celtics have a laundry list of draft picks that could be attractive to teams.

With the Celtics currently sitting in the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference standings, the idea of bringing a player like Love to Boston is likely appealing for fans. Love is averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

But according to the Daily News, talks of the three-team deal have "not progressed," so fans might not want to get their hopes up about this potential blockbuster.

In addition, the Boston Herald reported on Saturday that "nothing" is currently in the works for the Celtics on the trade front.

Stay tuned. It could be an interesting week for Celtics fans.
