Keller @ Large: Longest-Serving Massachusetts Mayor
BOSTON (CBS) -- The current longest-serving mayor in Massachusetts was WBZ-TV political analyst Jon Keller's guest on Keller @ Large Sunday morning.
Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn was first elected in 1988, when former President Ronald Reagan was still in office, and has announced he won't be seeking re-election.
"I think every city and town should change their mayor about once every 28 years," he jokes.
McGlynn says the biggest difference between Medford then and now is the diversity of the community.
"The Dalai Lama hangs out in Medford now," he said. "Through their eyes, we learn about the rest of the world."
McGlynn also talked about the best governor he's worked with, and what the state can do to help communities.
