Katy Perry, Idina Menzel Rooting For Seahawks To Beat Patriots In Super Bowl
PHOENIX (CBS) -- When the Patriots take the field Sunday night in Super Bowl XLIX, they'll have millions of fans back home and around the world rooting for them. But the entertainers of the night won't be among them.
Both halftime performer Katy Perry and national anthem singer Idina Menzel said Thursday afternoon that though they are there to perform, they'll be rooting for the Seahawks.
Perry said that she's friends with Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, and she was even texting him this week to ask how he prepares for the Super Bowl. (Wilson said he eats pizza and cheeseburgers, if you were interested.)
Meanwhile Menzel, she of "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen" fame, said that as a native New Yorker, she simply cannot root for the Patriots.
Perry also chimed in on the ongoing "DeflateGate" saga, assuring the 100 million viewers who will tune in to the halftime show, "Nothing in my performance will be deflated."
