Obidos, Portugal has a long history. Early Celts settled here, it was a trade center for the Phoenicians, and it has Roman roots as well. The Moors established a fort here later, and you can still see the evidence of this in the Moorish tiles that abound. Now Obidos is a super charming and romantic walled town. When I visited, in January, there were no crowds. The hotels and restaurants were empty and we had them all to ourselves. In the video, you will see an example of this as our hotel restaurant had more wait-staff than customers. There was no competition for a table right in front of a huge roaring fireplace.
