Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm Jamaica Plain Apartment Building Fire

BOSTON (CBS) -- A three-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in a Jamaica Plain neighborhood on Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to Centre Street shortly after 10 p.m., and upon arrival they saw fire on the first floor of the four-story building, according to the Boston Fire Twitter page.

The building had 15 apartment units, which are part of the Pondview Apartments complex, fire officials say.

The blaze, which was contained to one apartment, was put out in about a half hour.

One person was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Their condition is currently unknown.

A community center on Centre Street was opened for the displaced. It's unclear how many were displaced by the fire.

Fire investigators were on scene to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
