Jae Crowder Makes 94-Foot Shot That Doesn't Count

BOSTON – Jae Crowder hit what could have been the longest shot in NBA history on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, it did not count.

The Celtics small forward was inbounding the ball following a Boston timeout with 1.1 seconds remaining in the first half. Stevens drew up a play that called for Crowder to chuck the ball all the way down the court to Jared Sullinger so he could get up a quick shot before time expired.

Crowder did his job on the play, throwing the ball with one hand 94 feet down the court, but he put a little too much mustard on the toss. Incredibly, the ball was directly on line for the basket, banking in off the backboard to the shock of the Bankers Life Fieldhouse crowd.

Since the ball was never technically inbounds before heading into the basket, the shot did not count and the ball was given back to Indiana. The ruling did not stop the Twittersphere from marveling about Crowder's accuracy from long range.

Crowder finished with 12 points as the Celtics fell just short against the Pacers by a 100-98 margin, losing their third straight game overall.
