It's Official: Celtics To Face Cavaliers In Opening Round
BOSTON (CBS) - With their 95-93 win over the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night the Celtics officially secured the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, which sets up for an opening round matchup with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Since the beginning of February Cleveland is 22-9, which is good for the best record in the East. And if you can believe it, the Celtics are actually the next best team in the East at 23-12.
98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones and Rich Keefe reacted to the news following Boston's second to last game of the season. Jones has been clamoring for the Celtics to make the playoffs all along, and while he's happy the Celtics are in the dance, he would have preferred a first round series against Atlanta instead.
"They have an exponentially better chance of beating Atlanta than Cleveland in my mind," said Jones. "Cleveland they will not beat. Atlanta I would at least give them a miniscule chance. They will not beat Cleveland. They won't."
Rich Keefe agrees with Jones' sentiment, but stressed the value of Brad Stevens and this young team gaining playoff experience.
