It's Bitter Cold, But Not Record Setting In Boston

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Nearly all of southern New England was hit with sub-zero temperatures Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, as of 6 a.m. Tuesday it was minus-18 in Orange and Springfield, and minus-13 in Bedford and Norwood.

With the wind chill factored in, it was 23-below in Westfield and Pittsfield.

Boston was at 2 degrees with a wind chill of minus-12.

The record low in the city on this date is minus-7, set in 1894.

The normal high temperature for the day is 41.

Although Tuesday is expected to be sunny, snow will move in late in the day and into Wednesday with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches in eastern Massachusetts.
