Massport Calls Logan Airport Security 'Robust' In Aftermath Of Istanbul Attacks

BOSTON (CBS) – Massport officials are reassuring travelers at Logan Airport that security in Boston is "robust and dynamic" after two explosions at an airport in Istanbul left at least 36 people dead and more than 100 others wounded.

On Tuesday at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, officials say three people blew themselves up after police fired at them.

Turkish Airlines has daily service between Boston and Ataturk Airport. Travelers from Logan Airport are asked to contact the airline for current information on Turkish Airline flights.

"The security program at Boston Logan International Airport is robust and dynamic," MassDOT said in a statement. "Logan maintains enhanced security posture. There are many elements that are seen and unseen."

Massachusetts State Police say they are monitoring developments at the Commonwealth Fusion Center and "continue to maintain a robust and multi-layered security operation" at Logan Airport. "That operation includes patrol and tactical police assets that are visible to airport travelers and visitors as well strategic assets that are not visible to the general public," State Police said.
