Investigators: Waltham Teen's Bid For Revenge Led To Shooting Death

WALTHAM (CBS) – New details have emerged in the stunning death of high school wrestling star Tyler Zanco who was laid to rest Friday.

The 17-year-old student at Waltham High School was shot to death last week.

Court documents reveal the incident may have stemmed from a set-up the teen had instigated.

Investigators report that Zanco wanted revenge against Taylor Poulin. Zanco believed Poulin had ripped off his younger cousin out of 2 ounces of marijuana.

Zanco and two friends apparently set up a drug deal with Poulin in the parking lot of a Waltham apartment complex, but witnesses say Zanco tased Poulin with a stun gun when he showed up.

Brass knuckles were found in the teenager's pocket according to court records.

As the two men fought, witnesses say, Poulin's friend Domingo Mendes pulled out a gun and shot the teenager.

Poulin is under arrest in Maine, but Mendes is still on the loose.

A neighbor of Mendes in Belmont said police have canvassed the area.

HIldy Martus said police told her Mendes is "a suspect for a murder and they're looking for him on the property."

Zanco died of a gunshot wound to his back.
