Inside BC Football: Addazio Hopes Adversity Of 2015 Leads To Success In 2016

BOSTON (CBS) -- The BC Eagles have dropped four straight heading into Saturday's matchup with Virginia Tech at Alumni Stadium, still looking for their first win in ACC play.

It's been a difficult season for the Eagles, a young squad that's played well on the defensive side of the ball but hasn't been able to get it going on offense. Just one of their three wins on the season is against an FBS school, and they are 0-5 in conference play.

This isn't how things were supposed to go after back-to-back 7-6 seasons with Steve Addazio on the sidelines. But with such a young team, the head coach is hoping this adversity in 2015 leads to success in 2016 and beyond.

"I don't think there's any doubt [this adversity will pay off]," Addazio told WBZ-TV's Levan Reid for the latest edition of Inside BC Football. "You have a bunch of young players playing all over this program right now and they have their fingerprints everywhere -- freshman and sophomores. We have an offensive line that is going to physically and mentally mature.

"When you're prideful and a high-level athlete and things don't go your way, it really dives you for greatness in the offseason," Addazio added. "You're going to see a team that is scarred a little bit, but highly motivated. All of a sudden you don't take as many things for granted... We've hit some adversity and it will strengthen the underbelly of our program."

Addazio also previews Saturday's game against Virginia Tech and discusses his favorite Halloween candy! Catch Inside BC Football every Friday night during the college football season on the WBZ-TV news at 10 on myTV38!
