'Ice Bucket Challenge' Increases Ice Demand In Lawrence, Supplier Says

LAWRENCE (CBS) – A local ice supplier said he's having trouble keeping up with demand because of the popular 'Ice Bucket Challenge.'

Simon Markham of Bresnahan Ice in Lawrence told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 he typically has one delivery a day to vendors, but recently it's increased to two and three.

"We've been getting orders like never before," Markham said.

"For a while, we were wondering where it was all coming from."

The event to raise awareness and money for ALS research has spread across the country the last two weeks.

Several million dollars has been raised, according to the ALS Association.

Markham said he is happy to keep up with the demand since it is for a great cause.
