I-93 In NH Reopens After Large Sinkhole Repaired

CONCORD, N.H. (CBS/AP) — Part of Interstate 93 in Concord reopened late Wednesday night after the New Hampshire Department of Transportation closed it earlier in the day because of a large sinkhole.

The northbound side of the highway was closed Wednesday afternoon between exits 13 and 14. Traffic was being diverted from Exit 13.

Drivers in the area were forced to seek alternative routes.

Finally, at about 10:30 p.m., the road reopened to traffic.

Traffic in the area was severely delayed in the afternoon and evening hours as workers surrounded the hole.

Large piles of sand were dumped ontp the highway at around of 5 p.m. while crews repaired the massive hole.

The sinkhole did not result in any injuries.

One man, however, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly drove around traffic cones in an effort to get onto the closed highway.
