Truck Driver's Sneeze Caused Fiery Crash That Closed I-93 In New Hampshire

SANBORNTON, N.H. (CBS) – Police say it was a truck driver's sneeze that resulted in a fiery crash that shut down I-93 North in Sanborton, New Hampshire Wednesday for hours, just before the Fourth of July holiday.

According to New Hampshire State Police, a 61-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Canada was heading north at about 11 a.m. when he sneezed and veered into another tractor-trailer that was disabled in the breakdown lane of the highway. There was only one minor injury, but the crash sparked a large fire that fully engulfed both trucks.

Police shut down the northbound side of the highway and diverted traffic off Exit 22. The highway was fully reopened as of 3 p.m.

Police cited Andre Cassidy, of Quebec, for crossing a solid line.

Sanbornton is north of Concord and just southwest of Lake Winnipesaukee.
