1 Man Dead After Barbershop Stabbing
BOSTON (CBS) -- Police have made an arrest in connection with a stabbing in a Hyde Park barbershop that left one man dead.
A stabbing was reported inside the La Familia barbershop on Hyde Park Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said it may have been sparked by an argument that had just taken place.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was stabbed in his upper torso. He has not been identified by investigators.
Police arrested Rudy Jean-Baptiste, 28, of Roslindale. He will be charged with murder in West Roxbury District Court Wednesday.
A friend of the victim's wife said the couple had a young child and had just moved from Haiti. "She really frightened right now, so we're trying to help her," the woman said.
"It doesn't appear to be a random act, the parties may have been known to each other," Boston Police Superintendent-In-Chief William Gross said. "At this point, we're looking for any and all witnesses, if anyone saw anything, no matter how small, it can really help our investigation."
Friends told WBZ-TV the violence was not gang-related but a back and forth altercation that spun out of control.
