10-year-old girl hurt by falling tree at Hudson school bus stop

HUDSON – Ten-year-old Cali Laudate is grateful she's okay, after a large branch broke off from the weight of the snow and hit her in the head as she was getting out of her mother's car on Falls Brook Road in Hudson.

"I got out of the car and I started walking. And then I heard a crack and then the tree fell on my head right here. I tried to run, but I couldn't because the branches were right there," Cali said.

Cali says she stands at this corner everyday to go to school.

The 5th grader was right by the side of the road when the tree branch broke off.

10-year-old Cali was struck by a falling tree in Hudson CBS Boston

"It was a few branches. It was two. But it hit the car and then hit my head. I was kind of dizzy and when it hit my head I just didn't really know what happened. It hurt pretty bad," she said.

It came down and pretty much hit the front of the car. Then it came off the car and hit her.

As a precaution she was taken to the hospital. Doctors told her she suffered a minor concussion, whiplash, and a cut on her hand.

"I am feeling better, but my head still kind of hurts a bit and my neck," Cali said.

This weekend snow storm left almost a foot of snow in this area. There are a lot of trees and branches down from the weight of the snow.

"I just think there are a lot of trees that are not very mature and they are very soft. And you can see a lot of trees and branches down here so just a freak accident," Cali's dad Tony Laudate said.
