Hubway Asks Naked Riders To Wear Clothes On Shared Bikes

BOSTON (CBS) -- Planning on some naked bike riding in Boston this weekend? At least wear some underwear, pleads one bike sharing company.

The "World Naked Bike Ride" is scheduled for Saturday night through the Boston area and is expected to attract hundreds of riders.

But Hubway is asking riders not to cycle totally nude on their bikes.

"For the love of all that is decent, please consider the other riders," a spokesman said in a statement "While there isn't anything in the Hubway user agreement that explicitly prohibits riding naked, for safety and sanitary reasons we strongly encourage the wearing of clothing while riding."

The ride stars in North Point Park in Cambridge at 9 p.m.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030 asked Gov. Charlie Baker for his take on the bike ride Thursday.

"You know, I don't know anything at all about the naked bike ride in Boston but it certainly sounds like something that will probably attract a crowd," he said.
