Instead Of Getting Presents, Hooksett, N.H. Boy Gives Candy To Officers For His Birthday

HOOKSETT, N.H. (CBS) -- A little boy who collected candy for police officers instead of presents for his birthday got a tour of the Hooksett Police Department Wednesday.

"To thank you for working so hard to keep our town safe, my friends and I collected supplies for you instead of presents for my birthday this year," read a note Owen sent to the department with a care package full of snacks and sweets. "You are appreciated and respected!"

Police posted a photo of Owen's care package on Monday.

The officers were so touched by Owen's gift, they decided to give him something special in return.

On Wednesday, Owen and his family were invited to come tour the department, where the officers who received the treats sang "Happy Birthday" for him--and gave him a birthday present of his own.

Owen even got to sit in Hooksett Police Chief Peter Bartlett's chair.

"I think Owen looks right at home at Chief Bartlett's desk... Better watch out Chief!" the department posted on their Facebook page Thursday.
