Hit-And-Run Victim Identified, Possible Witness Comes Forward

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — A man who was killed during a hit-and-run crash in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston has been identified.

Massachusetts State Police say 40-year-old Pierre Desir of Boston was hit by a driver early Saturday while walking on Morton Street.

Desir was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle that struck him did not stop.

Police were seeking a taxi driver who may have witnessed the collision. The driver came forward on Sunday afternoon and spoke with state police investigators.

"Based on evidence at the scene, video footage, and witness statements, the vehicle involved in the collision is believed to be a four-door sedan, dark in color, with front-end damage that includes a missing headlight.  The vehicle may be a Honda Accord, possibly a 1999-2004 model," said the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

Desir was the father of five children. His mother, Adrienne Desir, is calling on the driver to come forward, saying, "I want to know what happened."

The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing by the state police detective unit. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 617-727-8817.
