Paraprofessional at Henderson School in Dorchester lost consciousness after attack by student

Teacher assaulted by student at Henderson School in Dorchester

DORCHESTER – Police say a paraprofessional at the Henderson Inclusion School in Dorchester lost consciousness when he was attacked by a student on Tuesday.

In a letter to families, interim head of school Stephanie Sibley said the attack was witnessed by multiple students.

According to a Boston police report, a paraprofessional overheard a student saying something inappropriate to a classmate and approached him.

The student allegedly pushed the staff member, then grabbed the front of his shirt and would not let go. Police said it took 3-4 staff members to get the student off of the paraprofessional.

Several minutes later, staff members were able to pull the student away. The paraprofessional fell to the ground and lost consciousness for one or two minutes, police said.

After regaining consciousness, the paraprofessional drove himself to the hospital with another staff member. He also suffered a chipped tooth in the attack.

The student, who is a juvenile, was charged with aggravated assault.

The Henderson School has children from kindergarten through high school.
