Heath Evans On Super Bowl XLIX: Patriots Need MVP Performance From Vince Wilfork
BOSTON (CBS) - Former Patriots fullback and current NFL analyst Heath Evans joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak on Radio Row Friday afternoon in Phoenix to talk about Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots matchup against the Seahawks.
In predicting who will win the game, Evans looks at one aspect of the Patriots defense as a key factor.
"I was so hungry to find a way that I could pick the Patriots. I went back and watched every defensive run snap against the Patriots. There is no evidence to say they will be able to stop Marshawn Lynch," Evans told Gresh & Zolak. "[Vince] Wilfork will probably need to win MVP of this game in order for the Patriots to win this game."
Stopping the run hasn't been a strong suit of the Patriots defense this season.
Knowshon Moreno, Jamaal Charles, Knile Davis, Chris Ivory, and even Justin Forsett had big games against New England, but with the combination of both speed and power, perhaps no running back presents a greater challenge than Marshawn Lynch.
Marshawn Lynch is a huge catalyst for the Seahawks offense -- they go as he goes. If he's not stopped by Vince and rest of the defense, this game could get out of hand.
