Harvard Square Traffic Slowed By Water Main Break
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – Traffic in Harvard Square was impacted Friday by a water main break that could result in multiple days of road closures.
The water main broke around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, prompting the closure of John F. Kennedy Street inbound at Memorial Drive.
One lane remained opened on JFK between Eliot Street and Mt. Auburn Street as crews worked to fix the break.
The Cambridge Water Department said Friday morning that roads are expected to be closed through the weekend.
It is believed that the pipe's age caused it to break.
Several businesses in Harvard Square are without water.
