Harbormaster Spots Humpback Whale Off Rhode Island Coast

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (CBS) --  Wickford harbormaster Ed Hughes captured a majestic scene Monday.

At first, Hughes, who was working at Allen Harbor, thought he saw a boat. But a closer look yielded something special.

He saw a humpback whale breach. Hughes was able to capture photos of whale, complete with the scene of the Jamestown Bridge.

"It stayed splashing around for about 45 minutes. Last I saw of it she was heading out of the bay. Just wish it was a little closer," Hughes told the Providence Journal.
