'Hands Free' Violation Leads To Drug Seizure, Arrest In NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- Police say they stopped a driver who was violating the "hands free" law and ended up arresting him on several drug charges in Manchester, New Hampshire on Saturday.

An officer stopped the driver of a black 1994 Honda Accord in the area of Auburn Street and Union Street around 6:30 p.m.

The driver was allegedly talking on his cell phone and driving a car without a valid inspection sticker.

The officer saw the driver had a black 9 millimeter handgun in a shoulder holster, and asked him to step out of the car so he could complete a check of him and the gun.

The man appeared to be nervous, police said, and during the check they found a loaded magazine with several rounds, a butterfly-style knife and a container holding several Clonazepam, Tramadol and Diclonfenacon pills on the driver.

Alejandro "Alex" Guillermo 39, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was taken into custody for not having a prescription for the Clonazepam and Tramadol.

Officers allegedly found 18.2 grams of heroin and 6.2 grams of cocaine in Guillermo's gray satchel, and 43.3 grams of heroin stored in a bank bag and a Diet Coke can in his car.

Guillermo was charged with possession of a controlled drug (heroin) with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute (cocaine), possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute (prescription pills), and felonious use of a firearm.

Guillermo was released on $20,000 cash bail.
