Boston Police Find Gun In Baby Bassinet

BOSTON (CBS) -- Police were stunned upon finding a handgun in a child's bassinet during the execution of a search warrant Saturday.

Members of the Boston Police Neighborhood Drug Control Unit were searching a home on Norfolk Street in Dorchester Saturday morning when they found the loaded, black, semi-automatic pistol in the bassinet.

Police said they also found multiple plastic bags full of heroin and cocaine, as well as about $1,000.

Pedro Valdez, 33, and Lasonia Gathers, 27, both of Dorchester, were arrested and charged with trafficking class a drugs, trafficking class b drugs, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful posession of a high-capacity feeding device, and possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number.
