Gov. Baker Spending Saturday Touring Western Massachusetts
BOSTON (AP) — Newly sworn-in Gov. Charlie Baker is taking his inaugural roadshow to western Massachusetts as he continues to introduce himself to residents across the state.
On Saturday, Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito will start the day by visiting the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams to help highlight the state's artistic diversity.
Baker and Polito then head to We Soldier On, a transitional housing facility in Pittsfield providing shelter and support to veterans.
Later the Republicans participate in a round-table discussion with business owners and members of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Baker and Polito wrap up the day thanking volunteers and supporters at an event at the Student Prince Cafe and The Fort Dining Room in Springfield.
Baker said he wants to use the day to focus on core issues like jobs, schools and communities.
